Manufacturing and fabrication

Frames cut and assembled, membranes welded, steel shade structures fabricated and hot-dip galvanised — then installed by the same people who built them.

What we make in house

Aluminium framing

Extruded 6061-T6 / 6082-T6 extruded aluminium profiles cut to length, drilled and assembled into rafters, legs and purlins. Standard bay modules plus one-off spans.

Membrane fabrication

PVC-coated polyester cut on a plotted pattern and high-frequency welded into roof and wall panels, with keder edges to suit the frame profile.

Steel shade structures

Cantilever arms, arch frames and pyramid posts fabricated from hollow section, welded, hot-dip galvanised and finished in polyester powder coat.

Connectors and fixings

Base plates, spigots, corner castings and tensioning hardware, galvanised or stainless depending on the exposure.

Refurbishment

Re-skinning tired structures, replacing damaged panels and re-galvanising steel — usually a fraction of the cost of a new frame.

Installation

Setting out, anchoring to prepared bases, tensioning and handover, with the anchor loads and maintenance notes documented.

Process

How a made-to-order structure runs

  1. Survey

    Dimensions, ground conditions, obstructions, drainage and access. For car park shades we also mark the bay layout and the circulation lanes so no post lands where a door opens.

  2. Drawings

    Plan, elevation and anchor detail for your approval. Nothing is cut before the drawings are signed.

  3. Fabrication

    Frame and membrane made to those drawings. Steel is galvanised after welding, not before, so cut ends are protected.

  4. Installation and handover

    Erected, tensioned and handed over with the anchor loads, the fabric specification and a short maintenance schedule.

  • Membranes specified for UV exposure and surface temperature, not for a temperate climate.
  • Coastal corrosion allowance — galvanising plus powder coat on steel within reach of salt air.
  • Sand ingress considered at the ground line: closed base details rather than open channels that fill.
  • Wind loading calculated for the site, with anchoring designed to match rather than assumed.
  • Thermal movement allowed for in long runs of aluminium, which matters more here than most places.
